Judy Gao ’27

Position: Editor-in-Chief

Judy is a third-year student at Princeton University from Bridgewater, New Jersey, majoring in neuroscience and pursuing a global health and health policy minor. She serves as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Princeton Medical Review. On campus, she competes for the Varsity Women’s Fencing Team, serves as the president of Princeton for Health Literacy and Equity (PHLE), is the founder of Students Tackling Overdose Prevention (S.T.O.P.), and volunteers for National Alzheimer’s Buddies. Prior to her time at Princeton, Judy was a scholar at the New Jersey Governor’s School in the Sciences and she conducted extensive research on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and various bile acid pathways at the Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. At the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, she contributed to studies of oncogene and tumor suppressor gene pathways related to breast cancer using optical genome mapping. Most recently, she has contributed to natural history studies of various leukodystrophies at the Leukodystrophy Center of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, with a focus on X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) and Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD). In her free time, she enjoys experimenting with fermentation, competing in trivia, watching historical dramas, and playing with her pet bird, Summer.

Since being a member of the inaugural executive board, Judy has looked forward to expanding The Princeton Medical Review during her time at Princeton. She aims to establish it as a trusted undergraduate publication that is a leading source of medical news and research.
