Rachel is a second-year student at Princeton University from Lynnfield, Massachusetts. She is majoring in Molecular Biology, planning to minor in Global Health & Health Policy, Asian American Studies, and Quantitative & Computational Biology. She serves as an Editor for The Princeton Medical Review. On campus, Rachel plays the clarinet in the Princeton University Wind Ensemble, volunteers for Princeton Community Health Connections and Princeton Music Outreach, and serves as a Peer Mentor (UCA) for freshmen in the Integrated Science Curriculum course sequence. Before coming to Princeton, she assisted research on the beneficial effects of certain gut bacteria in cancer immunotherapy treatments at the Gazzaniga Lab in Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. At Princeton, she recently joined the Kang Lab in the Molecular Biology department to help characterize the mechanisms behind the unique aggression of post-partum breast cancer (PPBC). This past summer, she completed a project using histological techniques to confirm the aggressive phenotype of PPBC in an inducible transgenic mouse model. In her free time, she enjoys listening to good music, wandering around in nature, and watching movies with friends. As a Staff Writer and Editor for The Princeton Medical Review, Rachel aims to promote effective science communication so that exciting and socially-relevant research topics can be as accessible and approachable as possible.
