Zaighum is a third-year student at Princeton University from Los Angeles, California, majoring in Molecular Biology and pursuing minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Bioengineering. He works as Co-Editor-In-Chief of The Princeton Medical Review. At Princeton, he is a Science Outreach Fellow, Outreach Chair for the Princeton Biomedical Engineering Society, and Peer Review Board Member for Princeton Undergraduate Research Journal. Before attending Princeton, Zaighum conducted high-level diabetes research at City of Hope Medical Center to understand how the disease affects the body’s function at a cellular level, being recognized as a scholar of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Most recently, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Zaighum has conducted extensive research into novel immunotherapies for various cancers, including sarcoma and non-small cell lung cancer, with a special focus on tumor-targeting antibodies and Immune Checkpoint Blockade therapy. In his free time, he loves playing and watching basketball, going to the beaches in Los Angeles, and trying new coffee shops.
From helping form The Princeton Medical Review as one of its inaugural Managing Editors, Zaighum has aimed to extend the reach of the publication to more members of the academic community. His goal is to bring medical research and news to the masses while solidifying its role as a model publication for other institutions.
